Dean Potter and Graham Hunt Died During Their Yosemite BASE Attempt

On Saturday evening, May 16, US BASE jumpers Dean Potter (43) and Graham Hunt (29) died after attempting a wingsuit flight from Taft Point in Yosemite National Park. Taft Point, a granite cliff that overlooks Yosemite Valley, Falls and that stands opposite the famous El Capitan, ranks among the most popular BASE Jumping take-off points in the USA.

Dean Potter has become a legend of both the Climbing, BASE Jumping and Slacklining scene in Yosemites since 1990s. In the late nineties, he began making bold solo and free-solo ascents of many of the park’s classic rock routes. He certainly was one of the best adventurous athletes in the world, with love for BASE jumping, that is illegal in Yosemite National Park.

Whisper, Potter’s miniature Australian cattle dog, who recently gained fame from the video „When Dogs Fly“, a film about Potter’s penchant for wingsuit BASE jumping with his dog in the bag, was not with Potter on his tragical last flight.

As both jumpers were among the most mentioned in Adrex.com´s articles, we hereby, on behalf of the entire editorial staff, express our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones.
