The Coupe Icare is without doubt the most original gathering of light air sports that exists anywhere. Since the very beginning, the energy and the ideas came from the pilots themselves …. Sharing record attempts, artistic skills and passion for flying. Every year new innovations are made, largely due to the amazing support from more than 1000 volunteers.

So what can you look forward to this year? The “Flying Frenchies’ Julien Millot and Tancrède Melet will cross the 20 meter distance from one static balloon to the other approximately 20 meters above the ground. The balloons will be piloted by two experts; Laurent Pacaud, a 40 year old professional and competition pilot, and Laure de Coligny, 25 years old and best placed female in the national ranking who has been taking part in the World Cup since 2004 when she was 14 years old.
The Parabatix Sky-racers are back for the 4th Icarobatix festival, which looks like being even more spectacular than ever. More international pilots should be on the starting line of the three breath-taking legs, faster and more technical than ever. Since the last Parabatix Sky Race in Dubai in November 2014, the competition has grown and the international scene is split into 3 areas : France (Icarobatix), UAE and USA. The winners of Icarobatix will thus qualify to take part in the Parabatix Sky Race USA in October 2015.
Other highlights include Icarnaval, Icare Folies, Icare Mômes, and other great side events. Together with the best pilots in the world, the Coupe Icare 2015 makes for the largest show of light aviation in the world. With a programme full of aerobatics during which you will see the greatest champions and specialists from 5 continents in each discipline that will animate the 42nd edition, the craziest of all festivals in the Rhone-Alpes region is a must for every aviation enthusiast.
