Scottish National Paragliding Stadium - Isle of Arran - Paragliding Fever in Scotland

Although the weather in Scotland is very changeable, from high mountain thermalling to soaring on the sea cliffs, Arran´s 432 square kilometers are dotted with many ideal paragliding spots. One road around and two across the island gives paragliders access to a vast range of different flying sites, using all wind directions. The southern half of the Island has lower coastal soaring sites using the raised beaches. The Northern half has many mountains facing different wind directions offering good cross country possibilities. The East side of the Island has large ridges and the west has some inland sites and ridges, that offer good thermalling possibilities. The sea breezes blow in the summer months meaning you often get good flying conditions on what would otherwise be calm days. The Isle of Arran is the ideal place to learn to fly and will mean for you paragliding one of the Scottish national scenic areas.
