Pristine and green environment of the stunning volcanic Waikato River Valley makes the Taupo Bungy one of the world's most spectacular bungee sites, featuring the world's first cantilever platform and New Zealand's first 'splash cam'. With the latest feature, Cliffhanger, added to the list, the extreme swing, which lets swingers take in the view while they swing through nature, the experience gets even better. You can go solo or tandem on both, you choose.

Some facts

  • Taupo Bungy commenced operation in 1991, and since then more than 315,000 people from all over the world have taken the plunge.
  • The first commercial Cliffhanger swing took place on December 13th, 2009, and has swung over 10,000 customers to date.

NZ's Highest Water Touch Bungee

The North Island's most popular bungee jump is a real blast. The unique cantilever platform projects out from the cliff-top, above the inviting waters of the Waikato River below. Whether you choose to jump solo or tandem, the highly trained crew pride themselves in providing you with an exhilarating and safe bungee experience. If you want to add even more thrills to your jump, you can try a water touch - it's your call to choose between a hand touch or full body submersion.

The Cliffhanger - Extreme Swing

This exhilarating adrenaline rush adds another dimension to the traditional bungee jumping. Swingers can choose a countdown or the surprise option, either way the release cord is pulled and the freefall kicks in immediately. Swinging down towards the crystal clear waters below, then arcing up to nearly 180°, this experience will reach speeds of up to 70kph. As the swinging slows, one can finally take in the intensely scenic view of the Waikato River Valley, while you enjoy the ride back to the platform.

On top of that, there is a free WIFI on site so that you can upload and share your experience with others straight away. Unlike some other bungy & swing sites around New Zealand, Taupo Bungy & Cliffhanger are proud to have many viewing areas for spectators to watch their friends and family take the plunge, without having to pay to do so.

If you want to check this place out, the site is located at 202 Spa Road, Taupo, New Zealand, just 5 minutes from the Great Lake.
