The starting field in the men’s category looks strong, with many of the international favorites attending the event. All eyes will be on local favorite Jakob Schubert, who won the IFSC Lead World Cup overall ranking 2014, and Adam Ondra, who took gold in Imst last year. Both already have a podium under their belt this season, with Adam Ondra finishing 2nd in Chamonix and Jakob Schubert placing 3rd in Briançon, and both look like they have not reached their full potential yet! There are other climbers who set their sights on gold in Austria, the top 8 looks strikingly homogenous this season and any of them could wind - at this point, it can be anyone’s game in Imst!

In the women’s category, all eyes are on Austrian young guns Magdalena Röck and Jessica Pilz. Magdalena Röck took gold in Imst last year on a particularly tough Final route. This season has not started very well for her, and she is currently 16th on the overall ranking after missing out on the Final in Chamonix and Briançon. This time, however, she will be competing in front of her home crowd, and we can expect her to set the bar high and ensure for some amazing competition!

Another Austrian young gun to watch this season is Jessica Pilz, who placed 3rd in Imst last year, and who is currently 2nd in the overall ranking, only 6 points behind all-time favourite Jain Kim. With 2 podiums in as many World Cups this year, she has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in Lead this season. This time, she is aiming for top spot, and she will be facing Jain Kim, Janja Garnbret , Mina Markovic and Anak Verhoeven.

With such a strong field of athletes lining up, the competition will definitely be riveting. Stay tuned!
