Kruder Siblings conquer iconic Verzasca Dam
second edition, attracted 24 of the world's best…
In the women’s competition, Jain Kim secured gold after scoring a solid 47+. Jessica Pilz scored the same result, and Jain Kim won thanks to her dominating performance in the Semi-Finals, where she was the only competitor to top the Female route. Anak Verhoeven came 3rd.
Pushed by the intense cheers of her home crowd, local favorite Mathilde Becerra finished 4th for her first participation in an IFSC World Cup Final.
Other Female competitors were less lucky. Delaney Miller forgot to clip the second quick draw of the Final route and was called down by the judges. However, she has showed during Semi-Finals that she can be amongst the very best, and we will surely see some more good results from her in the near future! In the meantime, Chamonix gold medalist Mina Markovic injured her ankle in isolation before the Female Semi-Final and could not compete in the Final. We wish her a fast recovery!
In the men’s category, Finals were close until the last finalist Gautier Supper of France stole the show in front of a mad crowd. He took gold with a strong margin, scoring a 49+ high above the screaming Briançon crowd. Japanese all-rounder Minoru Nakano came second with a 43+, and Austrian powerhouse Jakob Schubert took bronze with a 42+. The men’s event also had its surprises, with all-time favorite Adam Ondra and French strongman Romain Desgranges slipping off the wall while they still had some energy left to climb.
