The financing project has been approved and is scheduled to be completed this year. The climbing community has been aware of the aging fixed-protection in the Kalymnos area for quite some time. Kalymnos is one of the most sought after climbing areas not only in Greece, but in the world. It has been a popular climbing destination for climbers from all corners of the world in their search of amazing climbs, sea, and sunshine. The fixed-protection replacement project is scheduled to start in the summer of 2015 and is expected to be finished by the end of the year. New route establishment and development of new climbing areas will also be a part of this project.

Overall, the project will include the establishment of approximately hundred new routes, replacement of 2400 bolts, installation of 400 new rappel anchors with chains and a carabiner, as well as the addition of 580 new carabiners to the existing rappel anchors. Some signage will also be replaced and added.

While this project only encompasses about ten percent of the routes in this area, it will lead to improved safety and comfort of the visitors and therefore help with the future development of this amazing climbing area.
