Kyle Evans placed sixth overall, beating current UCI Men’s Elite World Champion, Australia’s Sam Willoughby, who arrived ninth. Fellow antipodean and defending women’s World Cup holder, Caroline Buchanan, placed second to Olympic Champion Mariana Pajon, the Colombian completing the World Cup circuit in just 31.975 seconds.

The top ranked 16 men and eight women raced the clock in Time Trials Superfinals to close the first day’s competition, protected from knock-out ahead of tomorrow’s finals and spared the spills that plagued the qualifying motos.

Great Britain BMX Team riders Tre Whyte and Quillan Isidore lived up to their promise, battling numerous crashes in the men’s heats to progress to the finals of the series’ opening round in Manchester. Teammate Paddy Sharrock will miss his turn at the finals, placing 49th where only 48 riders make the finals cut.

Alise Post leads the women’s motos with Great Britain BMX Team’s Charlotte Green in ninth place heading into tomorrow’s showdown.
