Some of the highlights of the upcoming Festival

Rock the Rookies

Like last year, its time for a tremendous bike show in the Vikafjellet's mountain area. Last year the Freeride competition became a huge success and the organizers have all reasons to believe that this year's competition will be even better. “Rock The Rookies” has its own twist, and this year the Rookies will compete against the Pros. The riders will take turns going head-to-head through a series of spectacular man-to-man (or women) showdowns. This is a team competition containing backcountry slope style features, where the Rookies and Pros can show off their wild side. The Rookie will pick a line, ride it, and then the Pro will ride their line trying to outshine the Rookie. Looking forward to it!

Kayaking

This is how Olaf Obsommer and Jens Klatt describe Voss as a kayaking destination in the guide book "Norway – The Whitewater Guide". In the past 15 years Voss has become a popular and famous destination for national and international kayakers. The reason for this is that Voss offers a wide range of excellent and crystal clear rivers for kayakers at all levels. Novice kayakers can enjoy superb class 1-3 rivers and advanced kayakers can choose between a great range of challenging white water. We can look forward to various whitewater competitions from Head 2 Head competition, the Brandseth Downhill to the Team Race.

B.A.S.E

There are many BASE-sites in the proximity of Voss. Most of them are slider-down cliffs, thus none of them are good for first-time jumpers. On 27th of June, Ekstremsportveko will throw down a demo with a big screen and live video recordings only advanced basejumpers can take part in. Check it out and register in advance if you meet the criteria.

Longboarding

For all of four-wheels lovers, two longboard races are going to kick off from 25th till 27th of June. In the last seven years this competition has been held at Skjervet as it will this year. However,  this year the organizers will be doing the Norwegian cup race separate from the Veko race. The reason for this is to keep the festival race accessible to as many riders as possible and therefore the rules are different for the two races. The races will happen on the same track during the three days full of slides and burning urethane. You should definitely check it out.

Other highlights

It happens a lot during Ekstremsportveko. In addition to all competitions in the various disciplines, the organizers intend to have an extended program of activities to all who visit Voss. This year there are a record high number of activities on the list. Extreme Elderly Bus, hikes in cooperation with the DNT, hip-hop and breakdance workshop, One Call Challenge and much, much more.
