Do you love nothing more than putting on a good pair of hiking boots and embracing the great outdoors? If so, you are probably always looking for the best hiking spot to climb across the world. That is why we are offering an insight into the four best-hidden hiking gems to discover.

Costa Vicentina, Portugal

Located between the Algarve and Alentejo, you will find the Costa Vicentina on the south-coast of Portugal. Famed for its fishing villages and beautiful beaches, it is a traveller’s paradise. Of course, the crown jewel for hikers will be Rota Vicentina, which offers 450km of walking trails, which provides many stunning sights along the way. For instance, you will spot the Herdade da Matinha during the hike, which is a 110-hectare family estate.

Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei is quickly becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, thanks to its mesmerizing landscapes, intriguing culture and delicious cuisine. While there are plenty of things to see and do in the city, it often pays to go a little bit off the beaten track to explore the many hiking and climbing trails. For example, Long Dong, also coined Dragon Cave, is a hiker’s haven, as climbers from different corners of the globe travel here to hike up the 70-metre cliffs. There is also Yangminshan, which is a stone’s throw away from the city center, which features advanced hiking trails for an experienced hiker.

Pico Island, the Azores Islands, Portugal

Portugal is well-known for its sandy beaches and glorious sunshine, but did you know that it is also home to many superb hiking trails. Pico Island, which is part of the Azores Islands, offers a 2300-metre mountain, which is the tallest in Portugal. From here you can enjoy unforgettable views of Sao Jorge and Faial. While there are many hiking trails to enjoy in the Azores Islands, the Pico Island mountain is easily the most challenging trail for a passionate hiker. It is important to note that the weather fluctuates on the mountain, which is why you should not tackle the unpredictable climate without an experienced guide.

Tour du Mont Blanc, France, Italy and Switzerland

Last but by no means least is the Tour du Mont Blanc, which is easily one of the most exciting hiking trails on the planet. You will have a unique opportunity to walk through three different countries: France, Italy and Switzerland, and can hike over many mountain passes to experience Europe’s most beautiful glaciers. Enjoy a slow, scenic hike between 7 to 10 days, or opt for the fast hike of three days. It is one hiking adventure that is impossible to forget.
