New Perspectives at the Snowpark Waidring Steinplatte

As soon as park designer Christian Tinney and his shape crew had announced that the setup of the Snowpark Waidring Steinplatte located Austria was completed, the numerous local riders could not wait any longer to give it a proper inauguration. Naturally, a media crew was on site too and captured the spectacle from the ground and from above for you!

The eyes of the freeskiers and snowboarders sparkled when they first saw the Snowpark Waidring Steinplatte on February 13th, 2015. This was not only due to the bright sunshine but also to the perfect and freshly shaped setup, which lay therein all its glory right before them. One thought struck them immediately: Today is a good day!

Over the last few weeks, the shape crew has put all their energy into the construction of the snowpark and the effort was well worth it. "We’re finally done, our gem is completed,“ park designer Christian Tinney said and he's got a big grin on his face. The locals, who couldn´t wait to rock the snowpark agree with Chris; this park is nothing to sneeze at. On the shooting day, the snowboarders were represented by Max Kaffl and Daniel Gassner, and the freeskiers Florian Zebisch, Tom Tripp, and Sebastian Hein completed the gang. Thus, there was a good mix of talented riders pulling out their skills that day. Needles to say, the Qparks media crew, filmmakers Daniel Ausweger and Marco Werner as well as photographer Roland Haschka were equally happy with the output. After all, they were in for a lot of great shots and, after the first practice runs, everything was set for a great session.

The Session…

…started on the kicker line. Here, the mountain railways provided the riders with a ski-doo, which was not only a lot of fun but also saved the crew a lot of time on the lift. The gang threw down one run after the other and the riders used this chance to showcase their entire trick repertoire. Like the rest of the group, Tom Tripp was really happy with the park and the shooting itself: “The kickers are perfectly shaped, thanks guys! Also, you just can’t beat a bluebird day on the mountains spent with your friends! And having a skidoo at our disposal just keeps adding up on the plus side of a great day…”

And it just seemed as if more runs equaled more fun! After the kicker session, the freeskiers and snowboarders proceeded to the jib line, where they pulled out a seamless series of tricks. Even the passing-by spectators were amazed by the riders’ skills. The locals themselves were excited by the completed setup at the Snowpark Waidring Steinplatte: “Most of all, I like the long jib line. The location is ideal, because there is always a lot of sun and the snow is usually very soft, so it’s just perfect for learning new tricks. The creativity and the versatility of the lines are great, and the park itself has a very inviting feel to it,” said Max Kaffl after his first runs.

The Octocopter…

…was definitely the highlight of the day for everyone. The drone did not only catch everyone’s attention, but also provided some excellent images. “This kind of shooting is always something special; it allows you to produce images from new perspectives, which are great for both the snowpark and the riders. This is simply something different,” said Daniel Gassner when asked about the aerial shooting. Freeskier Tom Tripp is quick to agree: "This is certainly a highlight. The drone is extraordinary and will surely produce good images.” Max Kaffl’s resume on the octocopter drone: “sick gadget!”
