Suzuki Nine Queens 2016 Gears up for Another Super Session

In 2008 professional freeskier Nico Zacek introduced an innovative event concept, which turned out to be exactly what the freeski world needed and following the success in 2011, Nine Queens Ski became the first big all female freeski event in Serfaus – Fiss - Ladis, Austria. And here comes the time again so write down the dates for the 2016 Suzuki Nine Queens, heading back to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, one of the most sought-after European freestyle destinations.

The Suzuki Nine Queens has made its name as an event where the world’s best female skiers and snowboarders gather for a unique session on a life-size snow castle featuring a massive kicker. The event setup  is for many the most beautiful and complex freestyle snow feature in the world. Past constructions have included tunnels, bridges, towers, multitude of obstacles and even a halfpipe.

The 6th edition of the event will again push the boundaries of snow construction with a multifaceted feature boasting massive kickers, rails and tunnels. The fun and 'pressure-free' environment sets out push the progression of the sport and in past events many personal firsts, as well as world first tricks have been seen. In 2015 young Klaudia Medlova (SVK, snb) turned heads by stomping a backside double rodeo 900 and Jamie Anderson (USA, snb) landed her first Frontside 1080. In 2014 Lisa Zimmermann nailed a world first double cork 1260 in competition while in 2011 Kaya Turski (CAN, ski) landed a world premiere Switch 1080 preformed by a female.

Once again, the picturesque resort, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in Austria will play host to a week of sunset and sunrise shoots starting on the 13th of March leading up to the Big Air Contest on Friday 18th of March, 2016, a day not to miss. Apart from seeing the pros riding, the event will hand out 1-2 wildcards to join the invited riders via the “Become a Queen” online video contest. This might just be your chance to join the elite snowboarders such as Jenny Jones and Kjersti BuaasOstgaard as well as top skiers Emma Dahlström and Lisa Zimmermann. But the question is: Do you have what it takes to ride with the queens?
