Top Riders Confirmed For The 2015 Burton European Open in Laax

Snowflakes have arrived in the Alps, the snowboarding equipment is ready and many snowboarders have had their first day on snow. Riders and event organizers are in the middle of preparations for the most important European snowboarding event in slopestyle and halfpipe, The Burton European Open 2015. The contest has a long tradition, being held for the 16th time and for the 11th consecutive year in Laax, Switzerland where the BEO seems to have found a perfect base at. Many big names in snowboarding are confirmed to compete at home of the world's biggest halfpipe, at the annual Burton European Open presented by MINI (BEO) from January 29th – February 1st, 2015.

The world’s best riders, women and men, several on and off-snow activities, evenings filled with live concerts and parties, and more - this year will have a fun Hawaiian theme so spectators and competitors can expect even more good times at the four-day event. So pack your bags and head up straight to the Swiss boarders, this is going to be huge!!! In only one week, the creme de la creme of international freestyle snowboarding will gather for the BEO, which offers US$ 160.000 prize-money to top-placing riders. The much-anticipated event is the very first international contest that will be held at the brand new Superpipe on Crap Sogn Gion mountain. Among the confirmed riders are Olympic champion 2002 and bronze medalist 2014 Kelly Clark (USA), who is a five-time BEO halfpipe champion, as well as BEO 2013 winner and Olympic silver medalist 2014 Ayumu Hirano from Japan, and Swiss riders Christian Haller and David Hablützel.

In past years of the event, the men’s slopestyle competition has been dominated by the Scandinavians who will also be represented in 2015 by top riders and former event winners like Alek Oestreng and Brage Richenberg from Norway, Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen and Roope Tonteri. Strong North-American challengers will be Mark McMorris, Burton US Open champ 2014 and Olympic bronze medallist in Sochi, as well as Chas Guldemond, both also known for earning BEO podium spots.

For women’s slopestyle, top riders confirmed to complete include Sochi Olympic Gold and Bronze medallists, Jamie Anderson (USA) and Enni Rukajärvi (FIN), Jenny Jones (UK), Austrian Anna Gasser and local Elena Könz, 3rd at the BEO 2014. All in all, around 100 riders from all over the world are expected to participate, and attendees can expect to watch snowboarding at its finest.
