Wojtek Pawlusiak Joins Nixon Pro Team

Wojtek Pawlusiak, the 28-year-old Polish rail slayer, who undoubtedly ranks as one of his country’s greatest international shred exports, was actually a relatively late starter in the freestyle snowboard game. Following a promising stint as a professional ski jumper, Wojtek - or Gniazdo as he’s known among friends - only strapped in for the first time in his late teens. It didn’t take long for him to make a name for himself back home, and he soon went on to attract attention further afield with a series of impressive results at pro jib contests across the European continent.

And while the contest scene was where he first cut his pro teeth, it’s been through his involvement with Pirate Movie Productions & the Isenseven crew that Wojtek has really made a lasting impression. Currently starring in the Pirates’ latest critically-acclaimed release, Perceptions, Wojtek laid down yet another banger part last winter, taking his fair share of bruising knocks along the way.

Catching his breath before embarking on yet another busy schedule of competing and filming, Wojtek said: “When I first started out in snowboarding, I have to admit I didn’t know too much about Nixon other than they were behind the coolest jib contest of all-time: the Nixon Jibfest. And from the moment I saw jib scene legends like JP Walker and Jeremy Jones tearing up that contest, the seed was planted in my mind to become a Nixon team rider one day. Well, that day has come, and I’m so freaking stoked about that!”

“Wojtek is a machine,” said Franck Corbery, Marketing Director at Nixon Europe. “I’ve rarely seen a rider with the determination he has to nail tricks against all the odds. He’s also hands-down one of the most creative riders out there, reimagining seemingly mundane urban environments and transforming them into one-of-a-kind playgrounds with his riding. He’s a great character who always has a smile on his face, and everyone on the team is pumped to welcome him onboard.”
