Cavalese is the main town of Val di Fiemme valley with 3,600 inhabitants. It stretches across a glacial terrace which slopes slightly downwards where the valley reaches its maximum width. Most of district-services (like the hospital for example) and the offices of the valley are located here. In winter Cavalese offers numerous ski-lifts, especially in the ski area of Alpe Cermis, as well as cross-country ski at the bottom of the valley and in Lavazè Pass. Summer visitors are offered a wide range of excursions and outdoor activities, drawing on river Avisio´s proximity.
The Avisio offers fine rapids of WW III-IV, several of its parts can be rated V according to the water level. The company supplies you with all needed equipment. The river often hosts paddling competitions and races. In 2013 it was the main spot for the Italian Rafting Championship organized by the Italian Rafting Federation together with Avisio Rafting.
