Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang - Waiting for the Greatest Swell
The 11th edition of the Rip Curl Cup Invitational at Padang Padang is Indonesia’s longest-running surfing competition featuring top international surfers alongside Indonesia’s best. Green barrels of the Balinese Pipeline often referred to as "the best" will see 24 competitors this year: 12 international icons and 12 of Indonesia’s finest barrel masters in man-on man heats. Among all of Bali’s surfing treasures, Padang Padang is truly the crown gem. Like most sought-after prizes, however, scoring this mythical wave is easier said than done. Many traveling surfers spend their entire time in Bali without ever witnessing Padang’s true potential. Rip Curl Padang-Padang hopes to have luck on its side.....
Rip Curl Cup Padang-Padang, long known as the Ultimate Tuberiding Contest and Bali’s longest running professional surfing contest, has began on July 5th and will end on August 17th. The uniqueness of the contest is that it will be run entirely on one epic day, when contest directors see an ideal "Padang swell" in the forecast, they will give the green light and the 24 competitors will have 24 hours to make it to Bali's Bukit Peninsula. And the green light hasn't called the competitors into action yet ........
