Since 1999, The Orland Watersports Complex (OWC) has established itself as the best place to not only progress, but learn how to wakeboard. Riders have many options to choose from depending on their level of experience mainly due to OWC's three different cable systems: two-tower system great for newcomers, a beginner full size cable and an advanced cable offering experienced riders real blast.
Set in an isolated area, away from the two main cables, the Sesitec System 2.0 cable, primarily used for one on one coaching sessions to teach new riders how to get up, can be set at any speed and travels in a straight line to work on basic riding skills. Great for newcomers.
The standard cable is a great cable for riders who enjoy a slower cable and fewer sliders in their path. Although the speed of the cable typically remains constant at 18mph on special occasions or cable rents it can be sped up to 36 mph for advanced riders. In addition, a full size, competition standard, six-buoy slalom course can be found here.
The Advanced Cable caters to intermediate/advanced wakeboarders and wakeskaters only.This cable features numerous sliders that include some of the most unique and best sliders in the world, many of which have been used in International Competitions and seen in several industry magazines. Don’t be surprised if you see some wakeboard and wakeskate pros in line for this cable – it’s one of their favorite spots to work on their rail riding. The Advanced Cable is also a lit area that can be ridden at night and is open as late as 8 p.m. in the summer.
Prices start at $34 per 2 hours and for the first timer, there is no better experience than the “Get Up Guarantee”- including 2.0 cable lesson, 4 hour cable pass and all gear for $59. You can rent gear on site and even take up lessons coached by some of best in the industry including Mike Ferraro, Ryan Jones, or four time world champion Shaun Murray. In addition to the cables, OWC offers a boat towing where you can go wakeboard or wakesurf behind their Nautique G23 or ski behind the Nautique 200. While off-water, you can relax on a sandy beach watching your friends shred or check out some of the OWC’s Dockside Grill eats.
