Mount Cook - New Zealand - 3754 meters

National Park Mt. Cook along with national parks Aspiring and Westland is one of the world's major sights and clearly one of the most beautiful places on the island. Of the 27 New Zealand´s peaks higher than 3050 meters above sea level, 22 of them are located in the National Park Mt. Cook, including the highest mountain in New Zealand and throughout Australasia, Mt Cook - 3,754 meters (12,316 ft) above sea level. Before tourists embark on a trip to a national park, it is good to inform the local tourist information centers. Opportunity to go skiing in the summer offers the Tasman Glacier, which is nice but only in its upper part.

Mount Cook ( Aoraki )

Historically, the Māori name has been spelt Aorangi, using the standard Māori form, nowdays Aoraki.

The first ascent of the mountain was on 25 December 1894, when New Zealanders Tom Fyfe, James Clarke and George Graham successfully reached the summit via the Hooker Valley and the north ridge.

Tourists can make a very nice trips by local valleys, walk around the mountain lakes, forests, or go mountain hiking. They also can take a helicopter to the top of the mountain or glacier. Information on climbing the peak of Mt. Cook still under construction. The Mount Cook Village is a tourist centre and base camp for the mountain. It is 7 km from the end of the Tasman Glacier and 12 km south of Aoraki / Mount Cook's summit. Beautiful photos provided us climbing server www.ho-start.info climbing section Start Ostrava. Thank you.
