Is it possible to buy games cheaper than on Steam?

The other day I calculated how much money I’d spent on Steam games over the past year, and my eyes nearly popped out. It was a lot. I love gaming and want to keep playing, but now I’m kind of hesitant to spend that much. Are there any ways to buy games cheaper than on Steam?
