Hi everyone,I’m planning a basement renovation and trying to understand where it actually makes sense to start, the interior part is clear enough walls, flooring, insulation but I keep hearing that many basement issues come from outside rather than inside, moisture, uneven settling, drainage problems, all that stuff that isn’t visible at first glance, before hiring a renovation crew, I’m wondering whether it’s smarter to deal with things like grading, drainage, or foundation prep around the house first, has anyone gone through a basement project where addressing the exterior and soil conditions made a real difference? would love to hear real experiences before I commit to the next step.
