Queenstown Skydiving Dropzone

Queenstown is the birthplace of Tandem Skydiving in New Zealand. Tandems are jumped here since 1990. Nowdays, Queenstown in NZ's South Island belongs among premium jumping destinations worldwide. A drop-zone we publish today is located at the base of the famous Remarkables mountain range surrounded by a working sheep farm.

Description

Formed by two parachute enthusiasts back in 1990, NZONE Skydive now employs approximately 65 highly qualified staff and have taken over 200,000 passengers tandem skydiving. NZONE Skydive was NZ’s first Tandem Skydive operation and is the only Tandem Skydive company to have won New Zealand’s Supreme Tourism Award. Adrex.com recommends NZONE Skydive.

They own and operate four turbine aircraft, have erected purpose built facilities at their skydive dropzones and uphold a rigorous equipment replacement program. Recently, NZONE invested in a second new Cessna Grand Caravan, also known as the Supervan 900. The plane can carry up to nine tandem jumpers – allowing to keep groups together during their once-in-a-lifetime experience, and is the quietest and most efficient aircraft available for commercial skydiving. The custom designed Supervan 900 has a single turbo-prop engine and is a fixed gear short haul airliner with a four-blade propeller and flat-rated 900 hp engine that gives it the ability to take off quickly and climb rapidly; also meaning its fuel consumption is more economical and the per person carbon footprint is significantly reduced. It meets stringent ‘green’ standards and easily meets strict European noise standards.

NZ ONE Skydive – They will teach you till going solo

Introductory program for beginners - XLR8

During the skydive training program you can perform 15 concentrated one-on-one instructional skydives.  Your personal Jumpmaster will fly with you for 12 of these, mentoring and filming your skydive. This enables you and your Jumpmaster to monitor and analyse your progress through the skydive school.  Each skydive is preceded by a briefing that includes all safety aspects, freefall techniques and parachute handling skills.  Debriefing and log book entries are completed after every skydive. The majority of your skydives will be performed from 12000ft. Each freefall is approximately 50 seconds duration with a 5 minute parachute flight.

8 ZONE COURSE - 15 SKYDIVES

Upon completion of the XLR8 Learn to Skydive course you will be cleared for solo freefall and can proceed to undertake consolidation skydives to achieve an NZPIA ‘A’ Certification (after 25 jumps). This will give you the freedom to independently develop your skydive skills further.  You can skydive solo without instructor guidance, make your own jump plan, jump your own equipment, jump at other drop zone locations and pack your own parachute.
