Nettlebed Cave and Stormy Pot Cave are a limestone caves located in the Mount Arthur region of the Kahurangi National Park, a national park in the northwest of the South Island of New Zealand. By connecting the two caves in January 2014, the whole system resulted in a cave system nearly 40 kilometers (25 miles) long and almost 1,200 meters deep, the exact depth claimed is 1174 m (3852 feet), making it the deepest cave in New Zealand, in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the deepest in the world. A lot of abseiling is required to pass through a system with some chambers up to 50m high and two football fields long, and a large parts of Pearse River also has to be overcome
