Decentralized Finance, commonly known as DeFi, refers to a set of financial applications and protocols built on blockchain technology that aim to provide open, permission less, and decentralized alternatives to traditional financial services. DeFi seeks to enable individuals to have greater control over their financial assets and participate in financial activities without the need for intermediaries such as banks or other centralized institutions. DeFi platforms are open to anyone with an internet connection, allowing individuals from around the world to access financial services. There are typically no stringent eligibility criteria, and users maintain full control over their funds, enabling greater financial inclusion.
