The summary begins with a presentation: you need to put the name in the title, indicate the contacts below. This is followed by the first part of the summary - the desired position and an overview of the qualifications of the candidate (summary of qualifications, 1-3 sentences). This part should answer the questions: what position is the candidate applying for and why is he suitable for it? “A Qualification Review is a few strong and powerful statements at the beginning of a resume summarizing skills and experience. The goal is to show the employer the value of this candidate, ”says Lily Zhang, a career development specialist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology[2].

Example of a qualification review: “School psychologist with more than 10 years of experience. Helped more than 100 children who faced bullying at school. The author of two monographs, a successful popularizer who has achieved comprehensive coverage of this problem in Russia over the past couple of years. Such a review not only encourages reading the resume to the end, but also creates a story based on which the employer interprets the rest.

In the review or after it, you can add key competencies and skills (highlights). Amanda Augustine, career consultant for TopResume, recommends putting the first third of the resume page on the resulting candidate profile[3]. To draw the reader's attention to specific details and make reading easier, you can emphasize a couple of important points in the text using bold type and use paragraph breaks.

Photo in resume
Whether to include a photo on a resume is not an easy question. According to the Russian portal SuperJob, 4% of recruiters do not open a resume without a photo, and 71% of employers say that a good photo significantly helps in finding a job[6]. At the same time, experts abroad believe that including a photo in a CV is “naive and unprofessional”, because a photo reveals gender, race, religion and other signs by which an employer can discriminate against a candidate[7]. It is important to take into account the cultural context of the country to which the candidate is submitting a resume.

If the candidate chooses to attach a photo, it must meet several criteria:

Good quality;
Light image;
Absence of other people;
Business attire or casual style;
Minimum makeup and accessories.
What not to include in a resume
Personal information. These include marital status, religion, gender;
Age information. This type of personal information deserves special mention, as the age of candidates is one of the reasons for constant discrimination. According to the American portal TalentWorks, the chances of finding a job have been noticeably declining since the age of 30[8]. A manager may give preference to a younger candidate without even realizing it. In order not to give out age, you can not indicate the year of graduation from the university;
Lots of contacts. It is enough to indicate one phone number and one email address so as not to confuse the employer;
Contacts from current work. You can not specify a work phone and corporate email - if a potential employer has to contact the current place of work of the candidate, this may be, to put it mildly, misunderstood by employers on both sides;
Full home address. “Nobody needs him on a resume anymore. You should not turn it on, at least for security reasons, ”comments Amanda Augustine[9];
Unnecessary words. A resume should not start with the word "resume" - only with a name. Before the phone and e-mail, you can not specify "mail", "telephone", as this is obvious;
Personal pronouns. For example, "I", "me", "mine", "he";
Desired salary. The issue of salary is decided after the interview;
"Recommendations on Demand" offer. Or contact information of those who can recommend a candidate. If necessary, the employer will ask for it himself, so do not litter your CV with unnecessary offers;
Reasons why the candidate wants this job. This can be done in a cover letter;
Knowledge of Microsoft Word. As well as other Office programs and e-mail - today the presence of such skills is a matter of course.
