Stanton Park is Getting Ready for New Season with New Features

It’s that time of the year again when the snowy Arlberg mountain range in Austria again attracts riders from all over the world to meet on Rendl Mountain, a home not only to a freestyle paradise, the Stanton Park. The destination at the Arlberg, which had primarily been known as a freeride Mecca among riders has established itself as a true freestyle spot as well. Built in 2009, the Stanton Park is getting ready for the new season 2014/15 to challenge freeskiers and snowboarders with brand new features. Let's take a look what riders can expect this season.

Sun-drenched, with snow as far as the eye can see, never-ending slopes and a breath-taking view – that’s the Arlberg. The “cradle of alpine skiing” offers everything a winter sports-fan could wish for. Known for its countless snowy slopes, which are a must for ski tours and freeriders, the Rendl is not an insider’s tip for freestylers anymore either. The Rendl gondola in St. Anton, newly rebuilt also in 2009, takes you directly from the village centre to the top of the mountain. There you will find a snowpark which you probably would not expect in this size and quality in a freeride paradise, the Stanton Park. While most riders are making a pilgrimage to the freestyle-Mecca at the Arlberg every winter, many motivated locals are already there. The young guns of the SCA Newschool Team, for instance, are working on their skills there.

Stanton Park

Park Designer Rene Friedl will roll up his sleeves once again this season together with his shape crew and conjure up a freestyle arena deluxe. At over 2000 meters above sea level, the compactly built park offers up to 34 varied features, thanks to the earth works and the guaranteed snow on the Arlberg. Since it has its own park-lift, you can enjoy an almost infinite number of runs in one day. Divided into five areas, the Stanton park offers something for riders of any level.

Younger riders will find a lot of diversion at the kids area. Next in line is the beginner area, equipped with various butter boxes. Naturally, not only jibbers will find a treat here – you can always try your first jumps on five kickers with tables of 3-4 meters. Enough with the warm-up? Then the features in the medium area will offer you proper training opportunities. For those who are looking for even more excitement, wallride in the advanced area will do the trick. You can also find some serious airtime here on a 7m corner and a 12m kicker. Finally, you can get real crazy in the pro area; alongside the 14m kicker, you will also find a brand-new 8m flat rail here as of this season.

Relax on the Beach

If you’re feeling really worn out after all these endless runs, go ahead and enjoy the relaxing beach vibes. Beach vibes on the Arlberg? That’s right – sun-seeking freestylers can charge their batteries at the Rendl Beach Bar. As an extra benefit, you can comfortably overview the park action from the terrace.
