Ahmed Gabr - World´s Deepest Sea Water Dive (-332.4 M) Record

An experienced Egyptian diving instructor and professional technical diver Ahmed Gabr has set the new world record for the deepest sea water dive. He managed to dive 332,4 meters below the Red Sea water surface near the city of Dahab on Thursday, 18 September 2014. To overcome the existing depth record, Ahmed had to descend to at least 330 meters (1083 ft), which was, until today, world´s record of the Frenchman Pascal Bernabé set on 5 June 2005 (Propriano, Corsica). Ahmed Gabr eventually safely managed the mark of - 332,4 meters (- 1 090,5 ft).

UPDATE - September 19, 2014 – yesterday, around midnight, Ahmed Gabr finally appeared on the Red Sea water surface in Dahab and we can definitely confirm that the previous record of Pascal Bernabé is surpassed. It's not the full 20 meters as it was announced yesterday, but slightly less than 2.5 meters. A new entry in the Guinness Book of Records, then, is -332.4 meters (- 1090,5 feet)! UPDATE - September 18, 2014 : The new world record has been set for deepest sea water dive on Thursday, 18 September 2014, in Dahab, Egypt. The name of the Egyptian diver Ahmed Gabr is now indelibly written in the history of scuba diving. With its 332 meters deep dive in the Red Sea waters he has broken the existing world record of Pascal Bernabé by a whopping 2 meters. There were no reports of any complications during the dive and the latest information (3:30 p.m. GMT) refers Ahmed continues his scheduled decompression procedure. Several depth marks attached to the guiding rope were deployed for today´s attempt between depth levels from 330 m to 350 m. The entire submersion should take an incredible 14 hours(!), of which the greater part is consumed on the way up the guiding rope.
