Shaka, pronounced „Shah-kahh“, means Excellent or Great in Hawaiian. No wonder the second largest Hawaiian island brings divers large number of excellent sites, most of which can be called like this. Many of them easily accessible, the main diving attractions of the island are its lava cave systems full of turtles, sharks and abundantly rich underwater life. Doug Corbin

Capt. Doug Corbin (more recently known as "Shaka~Doug"), has been leading Scuba dives for over 28 years and is considered by many to be one of Maui's "Friendliest and Funniest Dive Instructors". Having spent ten years in the dive business on the island of St. Thomas, U. S. Virgin Islands, he became very experienced in training and leading all kinds of divers. "Shaka~Doug" has held ratings from PADI, NAUI, SSI, Sherwood SCUBA, SCUBABPRO, US Divers, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and the U.S. Coast Guard, among others. With over 9,000 dives under his belt, he continues to dive almost daily and looks forward to each dive with great anticipation and excitement. Adrex.com recommends Doug as one of the best guides to Maui Island diving.

Shaka~Doug courses include Two-Tank Training, Scuba Certification, Referral Dives and AOWD. You can take it to a number of professionally guided dives and excursions including Shore dives, dives with Hydro-Optix Mega 4.5 Dive Mask, Night dives and Torpedo-scooter dives. Doug is able to help you prepare for you also a private and tailor-made dives. He is able to take you around the whole island in his special Diving bus.

Ahihi Cove

Close to the road, Ahihi Cove is one of the best diving spots on Maui thanks for its corals and visibility. The cove is home to an abundance of marine life with the area being protected within the Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve.

Black Sand Beach

Honokalani Black Sand Beach, situated in the Waianapanapa State Park, is an area named after the black lava stones and sands. The site has one of the strongest currents on Maui. Lot of fish, turtles, and even Pelagic fish come in on this side. Green Sea Turtles and another Zebra Moray and there have been a few Tiger Shark sightings in the area.

Molokini

The small, crescent shaped island of Molokini off the southwestern coast of Maui is a popular destination for snorkeling and diving. In fact, the waters and colorful reefs here are so rich with life, Molokini was named a State Marine Life and Bird Conservation District. Molokini is only accessible by boat tour. Tours are available from nearby Maalaea Harbor in Kihei and Lahaina Harbor on Maui’s western shores.

Other areas include Le Perouse Bay, White Rock, Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, Marty´s Reef, Five Graves (Caves) and Slaughterhouse.
