Adrex.com has obtained permission to publish a perfectly crafted maps of dive sites in the Seychelles. These were prepared by the Big Blue Divers team, which is a 5star PADI Dive resort in Beau Vallon, a bay on the northwestern coast of Mahe in Seychelles. Thanks to its crystal clear waters and rich coral reefs, Beau Vallon beach is probably the most popular diving base on the island. But for the avid divers, it is only the starting point for many beautiful Indian Ocean diving places surrounding 115 Seychelles islands.

With more than 15 years experience, the Big Blue Divers have gathered more than 70 dive sites to choose from. Their friendly and professional team offer International PADI certification courses - from beginners level of Scuba Diver up to the professional level of Divemaster. All courses can be conducted in English, German, French, Dutch and also Creole.

Big Blue Divers organize dives to the sites with short distance boat trips on a daily basis, where the travel time usually takes no longer than 15 minutes. The dive sites with long distance boat trips around Mahe are visited several times a week. The average travel time to these sites is from 20 to 40 minutes. The dive sites around the islands Praslin and La Digue are only visited during the day trips.

The area water temperature ranges from 25 to 26°C during the months of June until September and 27 to 29°C from October until the end of May. The visibility underwater is generally best from October till the end of May, when it reaches over 20 meters.

The Wrecks of Seychelles

We decided to print an overview of the five wrecks the BBD have in their maps first. Here we go:

In June 1970 the Ennerdale grounded on unchartered rocks just south of Mammelles. She was 215 m long and 12 m high British Royal Fleet Tanker. Its salvage was impossible. Therefore the wreck was destroyed and sunk.
