Alpamayo can be called a snow-veil beauty of the Andes. It is located in the northernmost part of Cordillera Blanca, about 130 km (80 miles) north of the Huaraz city. Its wildly fluted faces combine with knife-edge ridges to form one of the most remarkable peaks in the world. Alpamayo´s favourite slope, Southwest face, offers at least 1,200ft. of challenging alpine ice, much of it at 60 degrees or steeper.

Most popular routes start from the village of Caraz while the most common climbing route, known as the „Ferrari route“, is situated exactly on the Southwest face of the mountain mentioned above. It was opened in 1975 by a group of Italian alpinists led by Casimiro Ferrari. „Southwest“ is considered a difficult climb, demanding sharp crampons as well as ice-climbing techniques. Adrex.com would like to recommend a specialists in this magical mountain. It is a team of mountaineering experts from the company that actually carries the mountain´s name.
