Top mountaineer, Mark Inglis, will be flying in from New Zealand, as will be Louis Corbett, aged 13, who is going blind and who will relate the experiences he has had on his current world tour. Frenchman, Alain Robert, also known as “Spiderman” is currently living in Indonesia. His presentation on the IMS stage has to be considered extraordinary due to his rare speaking engagements in Europe. And Dr. Benjamin Levine will also have traveled a long distance from the USA in order to participate actively as a speaker at the IMS Congress “Clean and Honest Mountaineering”
The IMS has also made a name for itself in journalists’ circles. Among the 120 accredited journalists, there are representatives from Bangladesh as well as from Mongolia and Russia. “From a logistical point of view, as the IMS has gotten bigger and better, the team responsible for organizing it is facing a Herculean task”, states organizer Alex Ploner. “Flights, hotel bookings, shuttle transfers and any special requests have to be coordinated and fulfilled.”
It’s very hard to outdo the participants’ internationality at the IMS Photo Contest 2014, powered by BMW. 2600 photographers, coming from almost 100 countries, have submitted their photos to this year’s edition of the photo contest. On October 19th, the three Kiku-Photo Award finalists will be announced.
For the local audience, the IMS represents a good opportunity to broaden their horizons, to overcome their limits and to breathe in the international flair directly at the Forum in Brixen/Bressanone.
