The record number of runners participated in complicated step of Red Fox Elbrus Race festival, May 2014. In sportsmen class from Azau Meadow started 86 runners; in amateur class from "Bochki" alpinist camp started 111 men and women. Marko de Gasperi took part in Elbrus Race two years ago, and did not expected, that he can win: "It is beautiful and very difficult route. I knew it and trained exactly to run on Elbrus, - said runner. – I had to get ahead from the start and show what I'm capable of. My main competitor was Vitaliy Shkel, and I know his abilities. He chased me all the route, and I said to myself – OK, go, you must show, that you can do it! And I was able to maintain the advantage. Not sure it would be, if we were going up to the summit. I think I'm lucky!"

Dew to the weather conditions the judges changed competition terms. Skyrunners were turned down on 5200 meters above sea level with the finish on "Bochki" camp. Vitaliy Shkel said that this factor played a key role to his second place: "It's a pity, that the summit was inaccessible. I'm almost got up to Marco, but fighting him on the descent is useless".

From the saddle (5300 m) the weather was so bad, that the participants did not regret when they were turned down, despite to the fact that no one was prepared to speed downhill to "Bochki". However, to some athletes it has helped to improve the result. Oksana Stefanishina finished the distance with the smile on her face, as if not tired: "I'm glad that the finish line was down in the camp, and not on the summit. I run easily, and had time to rest. I thought that will be the struggle down the road, but managed to break away. I'm excited to defend the title!"
