Radek Jaros – 15th King Wearing the Crown of Himalaya

On Saturday, July 26th, Czech climber Radek Jaros became so far the15th person worldwide who managed to climb all fourteen eight-thousanders without any oxygen mask support. Terrifying and the second highest in the world, K2 with her 8611 meters was the last to let him on her top. After four unsuccessful trials, he succeeded during his fifth trial performed this year. His victory is the more valuable because of his serious frostbites he suffered on his Annapurna climb back in 2012.

Czech climber Radek Jaros has become the 32nd person in the world who managed to climb all fourteen eight-thousanders. Jaros reached the dreaded K2 peak, which is with its 8611 meters the second highest mountain in the world, on Saturday (July 26, 2014). As a part of a three-member Czech climbing team along with Petr Masek and Jan Travnicek, Radek Jaros has also ranked 15th in the world to complete all 14 Himalayan summits without carriers´ help and artificial oxygen usage.

He had lost almost all his toes on Annapurna (2012), but he stood up again and got back to the highest mountains to top up his dream of dreams – The Crown of the Himalaya. Fifty years old Radek reached the K2 top accompanied with another team member Jan Travnicek. The third remaining Czech team member – Petr Masek started the return journey at 8200 descending  and reached safely  the C-IV camp. What can one say to that? Congratulations and best wishes of happy return to the base camp to all the expedition!
