Tamara Kusnetsova Took Gold at Kia World Extreme Games

The 2014 edition of the Kia World Extreme Games rocked the KIC Jiangwan Sports Centre in the Yang Pu District of Shanghai on the opening day as the world’s best female climbers sped into action this Wednesday, 30th of April. Following the seeding round where 24 top climbers were reduced to the final, spectators in the sun-drenched stadium watched the women get faster and faster over the course which had been top secret to them all until their morning practice session. The Speed Climbing race was tight to the end from which Kazachstan's Tamara Kusnetsova triumphed over Indonesia’s Tita Supita.

Supita was disappointed to take silver for the second year in a row despite competing against the strongest field ever assembled. She explained, “I am feeling sad right now because I wanted to be number one. It was very difficult competition and a lot of good athletes but I am still sad because I wanted to win.” Bronze went to Russia’s Alina Gaidamakina who was overjoyed with her first Kia World Extreme Games. “I am feeling very good and very happy. This is my first Kia Extreme World Games and I am very delighted that I can take this medal home. I think the best athletes in the world are here. I am very happy that I can do well”, she said.
