The Mountain Festival IMS Shows Willpower

The Kiku. International Mountain Summit has completely set up the program for the event’s sixth edition. Starting from October 16th the motto “willpower” runs like a common thread through the event in Brixen(South Tyrol-Italy), where mountaineers, climbers, doctors, experts, tour operators, together more than 60 speakers, will be on the IMS stage. Ticket sales are open.

During the opening evening the 13-year-old student Louis Corbett from New Zealand is in the spotlight. He is suffering from an incurable eye disease, which is reducing his eye-sight, until he will turn completely blind. His family has decided to show him as much as possible of the world. This world tour will lead Louis also to Brixen/Bressanone (South Tyrol-Italy) on the IMS stage, where he will meet the exceptional climber Andy Holzer, from Osttirol, Austria.”Blind Date” lives up to its name and will be a touching, motivating and unique dialogue for the IMS-visitors.

Alain Robert from France, the real Spiderman, will share during the second IMS-day his climbing experiences gained on the highest buildings of the world. Free climbing and always in danger, he makes impossible come true.

The loss of both legs below the knees hasn’t stopped the New Zealander Mark Inglis from climbing the Mount Everest. He will be on stage on Saturday, October 19th, together with the psychologist Georg Fraberger from Vienna and the Frei. Wild singer Philipp Burger during the discussion”WillPOWER to will”.

Extreme will also arise in the discussion“The Way into the Unknown“with various extreme athletes, like the BASE jumper Steph Davis, who will represent as only woman the female athletes on stage. The young exceptional climber and alpinist David Lama will meet during the closing evening the mountain legend Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler.

A real crowd puller will take place on Sunday, October 19th with the IMS Walk Day by GORE-TEX®. Hiking fans from all over the world will be invited to reach the hut Rossalm on the mountain Plose. Beside paragliders and hang gliders, who are participating at the IMS Fly Days, the GPS experts of the IMS Geocaching will meet up at the home mountain of Bressanone/Brixen as well as young and old, families, manager, member of alpine clubs and many more for an open dialogue with mountaineers.

Another exclusive meeting will take place this year within the frame of the Mountain ex.change, directly at the Sigmundskron Castle. Renowned mountaineers like Hanspeter Eisendle, Steph Davis, Adam Holzknecht, Peter Habeler, Hervé Barmasse, Alain Robert, Dave MacLeod and of course Reinhold Messner, as well as international journalists will analyze together the topic” How much publicity does the mountaineering need/tolerate?”

IMS founders Markus Gaiser and Alex Ploner are glad to welcome international guests.”There is already a great demand for tickets, the program is finding a high acceptance. At the IMS Photo Contest we could set a new record with almost 2600participants from about 90 countries. We are confident that also this year important inputs will be given through the IMS for the mountain world, “alleges Markus Gaiser, the president of the Organizing Committee.

Six days filled up with presentations, congresses, conferences, input-meetings, a Youth Camp, climbing and the traditional “Abklettern” –party with live music and delicious specialties from South Tyrol- will be once again the central meeting point for the local and international mountain world at the Kiku. International Mountain Summit from Thursday, October 16th until Tuesday October 21st.
