Noosa ProAM 2014

The Inaugural Noosa ProAM is the Australian National Championships and final leg of the national circuit for Street Luge, Downhill Skateboarding, Classic Luge, Gravity Bike & Downhill Inline taking place on the renown Gyndier Drive racetrack in Tewantin, a suburb in Noosa, Queensland, Australia on the 9th & 10th of August 2014. Since none of the boards nor inlines the riders will ride have breaks and bikes pedals, only the quickest and fearless one have chance to become the next Australian Champion!

The Noosa ProAM is a FREE event open to anybody who has experience in any of above disciplines and the event have 38 Professional and Amateur riders from all over the country racing together competing for the Australian Championship Title. The race is going to take place on the Gyndier Drive , closed asphalt track famous among skateboards, with an overall length of 2.91 kilometers from which the Noosa ProAM race track consists of  1.83 kilometers where riders reach up to 70 KPH.

If you are not familiar what the heck is Luge or Gravity Bike downhill about, here is a little overview of what to expect:

Similar to its counterpart seen in the Winter Olympics, Street Luge involves lying down on a custom-made sled with wheels. Classic Luge is similar to street luge, only you lie down on a board similar to a skateboard but slightly larger. And Gravity Bikes are essentially BMX style bikes without pedals. If you want to see it live, do not miss the action this weekend in Tewantin. Saturday is made up of practice and qualification for the big day of racing on Sunday.
