Flying Lakes of Turku with TLU - Skydiving Turku, Finland

Parachute jumping began in Turku in 1968 under the auspices of the Club of Turku airport. In 1972, the jumpers formed their own Association, which was registered in 1973 under the name Turun Laskuvarjourheilijat ry., abbreviated TLU. The club is a Finnish Aviation Association member since 1975, and today, TLU is one of Finland's largest skydiving clubs.

TLU Club currently runs courses and provides AFF as well as tandems.

TLU Airplane

The club operates Pilatus Porter PC-6-B2H4  with following basic technical data: Length: 11,00 m The wing tip spacing: 15.8 m Height: 3.2 m Maximum take-off weight: 2800 kg
Fuel consumption: 160 l/h The rise time of the 4 km: 10-15 minutes, depending on the circumstances and the load. It accommodates up to 10 jumpers.

The Club has its own premises in close vicinity of the airport of Turku. The airport is located some 8 km north of Turku city centre. Address: The Airport Of Turku (EFTU) , Flight rahdintie 141 , 20360 Turku , Finland. Jumping operation hours are during the evenings and weekends. Tel. (02) 238 8262

 

How to get there

By car: approaching airport take to the left before the cargo terminal and see a sign "Laskuvarjourheilijat". Follow the sign and turn left again. Drive a freight road until you see the DHL Terminal and take the dirt road to the left.

By bus: bus shuttle number 1 to the airport – from the bus station it is approximately a five-minute walk to the edge of the cargo terminal, then follow through the parking lot to the caravan.
