Vesivehmaa Skydiving, Finland - Vesivehmaa - Hämeen Laskuvarjourheilijat

Vesivehmaa is a small Finnish village located just 20 km north of Lahti. It has its own airport with fully paved runways, which provides ideal conditions for skydiving. Skydiving has a long and successful tradition here. Skydive Häme (Hämeen Laskuvarjourheilijat ry) was founded in 1971, and is currently one of the largest skydiving clubs in Finland. The club has approximately 250 members, about thirty of which are active skydivers.

The club makes about 5000 jumps a year out of their own Cessna-206 and Comp Air 8 plane, which is operated by Suomen Urheiluilmailijat Ry. At Skydive Häme they train approximately hundred of new- jumpers every year. They operate from Vesivehmaa Airfield near Lahti, where they have also their clubhouse and dropzone. Skydiving at Vesivehmaa continues all year round (yes, even during the winter), but of course they are mostly active during the summer months, from April through October. Being a non-commercial club, the action is heavily concentrated on the weekends. The Club is well known for the success of the CF-hyppäämisessä (Canopy Formations). They provide all kinds of courses and jumps including tandems.

Vesivehmaa Airfield is situated next to Lahti, about 120km north from Helsinki.
