Beautifully Harsh MTB Race - The Enduro World Series 2014

MTB has grown into a massive sport, mainly popular among freestyle enthusiasts anywhere in the World. If you speak about an enduro race, people imagine a long-distance race. Enduro racing as we now know it started in France under Fred Glo who, inspired by his own travels and experience of motorcycle enduro racing, wanted to bring the all mountain experience to mountain bike competition. Adrex.com doubts Fred would have ever thought what it became; a thrilling enduro race with dowhnhill and freestyle aspects. Also unique to enduro, and one of the core values of the discipline is accessibility, with amateurs competing on the same Special Stages as the professionals. This mix of ability and background is unique to the enduro format, allowing normal bike riders to compete against their heroes. All of mentioned is what makes The Enduro World Series so special. Beautiful yet tough locations are awaiting the best enduro riders in the World. Adrex.com brings you another detailed MTB racing calendar - The Enduro World Series 2014!

Round one in Nevados de Chillan, Chile, tested the world’s best mountain bikers on 6 stages over 2 days on April 19-20, against a backdrop of spectacular terrain to kick-start what promises to be another epic season of enduro mountain bike racing. After two days of to-the-wall racing through the Andes, Anne Caroline Chausson and Jérôme Clementz emerged victorious. Do not forget to check a picturesque photogalery from the race at the end of the article!

“Chile was an amazing race on wild terrain - a true test of everything from high alpine style racing to high-speed volcanic ash and forested singletrack. The community is incredible here and the people and the trails are simply amazing. As far as adventure goes, they don’t get better than this.”

Riders now have six weeks to recover, refocus and prepare their systems for a weekend of world-class racing and recreational whiskey-drinking when the Enduro World Series moves on to Scotland’s Tweed Valley, for the Santa Cruz TweedLove World Enduro presented by Sweet Protection, 30 May - 1 June. Check out the rest of the Series 2014:

Tweed Valley, Scotland - Round 2: May 30 - June 1

Just south of the world famous city of Edinburgh lies the Tweed Valley, home of the Tweed River made famous for its fishing and woollen mills. Now the heart of UK mountain biking, the Tweed Valley hosts two days of racing between the popular venues of Glentress, Peebles and Innerleithen. Expect tight and steep natural terrain and flowing trails.

Valloire, France - Round 3: June 21-22

Following the classic French format developed by Fred Glo and his team, Enduro Series Valloire will take riders up the mountain using chairlifts multiple times over two days, giving this race the most vertical descent of the series. Riders will be given one practice run on each Special Stage before having to race it.

La Thuile, Italy - Round 4: July 12-13

With wild open and alpine singletrack, La Thuile is set to host an incredible enduro race in incredible surroundings. Following the well established Super Enduro format, riders will have a mixture of climbs and chairlifts to get the start of each special stage.

Winterpark, Colorado - Round 5: July 26-27

As arguably the longest serving enduro race in the USA, the Winterpark hosted EWS Round 5 will test riders at high altitude both in and out of the bike park. Unique to the Colorado Freeride Festival, riders will race each morning before training on the following day’s Special Stages each afternoon.

Whistler, Canada - Round 6: August 9-10

Voted one of the best enduro races in the world by Pinkbike in 2013, the Whistler Crankworx Enduro takes riders out of the world famous bike park and into the backcountry. Five stages in one day, with a mixture of chairlifts and steep climbs makes this one of the most challenging and rewarding events of the year.

Finale Ligure, Italy - Round 7: October 4-5

Voted enduro event of the year in 2013 by Pinkbike, Finale Ligure is a season classic. It is here that riders will fight for the final World Champion title over two days of racing, including some of the best wild single track in the world. Finishing on the beach, in the Mediterranean town of Finale Ligure, the atmosphere is always as incredible as the riding.
