Extreme MTB Downhill on Ice and Snow

Starting at 3500 meters above sea level, going down elbow-to-elbow with 280 other people, reaching top speed around 120-130 km/h - that's Glacier Bike Downhill in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. If you are a MTB enthusiast, make a note in your calendar, you do not want to miss this spectacular event in 2015!

Riding a piste on a bike is great fun but a mass start race experience makes it even better. Glacier Bike Downhill combines these two ingredients together.  Philipp Bont who finished the eight kilometers track with a height difference of 1700 meters, starting from an elevation of 3500 meters, in eight and a half minute, dominated this year's eleventh annual event.

Anne Heiland, one of the twelve courageous women, was the fastest one in her category finishing nearly ten minutes after the first man.

Imagine 280 participants who start out at the same time, run to their bikes and ride down an extremely icy glacier. Not to mention that to keep the bike straight on is not an easy task even on a groomed but frozen ski slope. Watch and enjoy.
