First Ever Pinnacle Bike Championship Set for Elite Riders

Fresh on the back of the UCI Downhill World Cup finals in France last weekend, the world’s Elite Downhill mountain bike racers - including Matt Simmonds and the newly crowned women’s World Cup queen, Britain’s Manon Carpenter - are setting their sights on challenging for the inaugural Pinnacle Bike Championship title, the $10,000 top prize and bragging rights over their rivals as they compete toe-to-toe, 10 at a time. Riding by invitation only, the world’s 100 best riders are presented the chance to race directly against each other in groups of 10 - rather than the more time-old downhill format of racing against the clock - as they descend 1500ft, side-by-side at speeds of 60mph, taking in 70ft jumps and 40ft drops over the revolutionary custom-built course design on the face of 4000ft Mt. Tecumseh.

Two years in the planning, the Pinnacle Bike Championship has been devised as a means of opening up the visual access to one of the world’s most dangerous sports for greater spectator satisfaction, with 100% of the course raced over open slopes designed to push the limits of the riders’ abilities and equipment to the very limits. Among the world’s elite downhill racers already confirmed to participate in the inaugural event are the likes of Manon Carpenter, Sam Dale, Matt Simmonds, Mick Hannah, Fabien Cousinie and more.

Event Founder, Mark Rodgers, comments “We wanted to create a spectacular race that would entertain bike fans like nothing out there, and showcase the talents of the riders in a head-to-head format. These world-class athletes are skilled bike handlers who, with the advanced technology of their equipment, have the ability to blow people away. With the world's best riders set to race, Pinnacle is an event no one will want to miss.”
