UCI Mountain Bike World Cup

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup has a long, colorful history and enjoys a solid following throughout the world. Over the years, the UCI has modified the format and introduced new initiatives in order to keep up with evolving trends and meet the expectations of athletes and fans. Since it first hosted a Mountain Bike World Cup in 2002, Fort William has amassed a shelf full of trophies and accolades. At the heart of the Fort William success story is the crowd of passionate, noisy fans who travel from all over the UK to the Mecca of biking in the Scottish Highlands. They are the ones who ramp up the atmosphere to fever-pitch in the finish arena. And if it's a Brit who wins, the noise goes through the roof.

Fort William Track

The 2.82 km long track is one of toughest racetracks on the circuit with ample room for error but it’s also a place where magic can happen. Fast and technical sectors quickly passing into brutal sections are highlights of Fort William. Greg Minnaar holds the fastest speed recorded here: 68,7 km/h. Chris Kovarik pulled that bonkers winning back in 2002 when he remained leader to the end by 14 seconds margin and no one will also forget British brother and sister Gee and Rachel Atherton taking top spots last year.

What to look forward to?

The Fort William World Cup is 100% 'gravity' with the spectacular non-stop action of downhill and four-cross delivering a constant stream of amazing skill and speed on the slopes of Aonach Mor, the UK's 9th highest mountain. Will Atherton siblings defend their titles? With World Champions Sam Hill or Danny Hart, one of the most talented downhill riders of the planet going after the title, it is not going to be easy. MTB fans who can't be present on site can watch the event live at live.redbull.tv

The Highlands town of Fort William is sometimes called the Outdoor Capital of the UK.

You can hurtle down the face of Aonach Mor, the 9th highest mountain in the UK, either on your MTB, ski, snowboard or various flying gadgets. The Nevis Range mountain gondola system, the only of its kind in Britain, serves the athletes and tourists on the Aonach Mor as a way to transport them to the slopes and takeoffs. It is also widely used as a short cut by climbers to the many challenging winter routes and by paragliders, hangliders and MTB bikers on their journey to the top. The place has become one of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series stop and is considered one of the best downhill MTB trails in Europe. Find the place on the map of Adrex.com Locations...
