It all started with one man – Bill Cockroft. A passionate cyclist, he wanted to bring bike racing to the Mammoth Lakes. It was the mid-80s and cycling was very much in the public eye, thanks to the Oscar-winning film “Breaking Away” as well as the USA’s success in cycling events at the ’84 Olympics, which took place in nearby Los Angeles. The rest is a history, Mammoth was regular on the international race schedule and the Kamikaze changed bike racing as we know it.

Located in the Eastern Sierra equidistant from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas, Mammoth Lakes offers pristine mountain fun. The Mammoth Mountain Bike Park that blankets all of Mammoth Mountain and more, with access to the Lakes Basin to the south and miles of USFS roads and trails to the north, offers terrain for every ability level, boasting 3,500 acres and over 80 miles of single tracks, miles and miles of forested Intermediate Cross Country trails and some of the world-class downhill trails. New for this year is a cyclocross race and a great new XC course. The Speed & Style is shaping up to be a crowd favorite, Pro GRT Downhill promises a lot of big hits, bigger drops, and super technical sections and even enduro enthusiasts won't be left behind; 2014 brings also back the Enduro with a new course featuring an additional timed stage.
