Schwalbe British 4X Series 2014 Is a Wrap
It has been an interesting year. Scott Beaumont took the win at the opening 3 rounds and looked to be storming towards the overall title. However with some other race commitments he missed the double round at Bridgnorth where Will Evans and Nathan Parsons took the wins and then was beaten into 2nd position by the inform Duncan Ferris in Falmouth and it was clear the rest of the series will be all about Beaumont versus Ferris battle. Coming into the last round in Leamington Duncan Ferris was leading the overall points, however after only competing in 4 races so far in 2014, Scott Beaumont was in a great position to add his Leamington result to his points total and take the Series Championship.
Scott Beaumont remains a high-profile figure in the British mountain biking scene, and is one of the leading elite riders in the British national 4X series, winning the 2008 & 2012 British national 4X championship. With plenty of experience he went for the win from the start in Leamington. The gate dropped and Beaumont got the holeshot. Followed by Ferris getting very close on the first straight, it promised a thrilling race but Ferris unfortunately backed out of the action. At the finish it was Beaumont from Metcalfe, Cutmore and Ferris.
