The ISA World Longboard Championship (WLC) is a new International Surfing Association World Championship as of 2013. The event was created because due to the popularity of the Longboard division in the ISA World Surfing Games. In 2013, the WLC will see 128+ longboarders from 32 countries surf in the inaugural event in the following divisions—Open Men, Open Women, and Open Junior (Under-18). There will be one Gold Medal National Team. It will take place in Huanchaco, Peru, and start on September 22nd and end September 28th.

Longboarding has traditionally been a division of the ISA World Surfing Games since 1988. Due to the growing popularity of the longboard division and the increase in participating athletes, the ISA has decided to organize its own World Championship with specialized longboarding judges, at one of the best surfing destinations in the world. Longboards are the original equipment surfers rode before the shortboard revolution in the late 1960s. Longboards came back in popularity in the early 1990s, and made the learning curve much smoother for entry-level surfers.
