Pamporovo VeloPark - The Latest European MTB Park

Pamporovo is a popular ski resort in Southern Bulgaria and is regarded as one of the bests in Southeastern Europe. Famous for its magnificent pine forests, the resort situated in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains, has been primarily visited by skiers and snowboarders until 2012. At the beginning of July 2012, the Velo Park Pamporovo officially opened its gates to welcome MTB riders from all around. With numerous trails of a total length of over 30 kilometers, a specialized downhill trail with a length of 1800 meters ready to host high class competitions or a brand new 4X track, this place is not to be missed by any MTB enthusiasts.

The resort, situated in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains about 220 km from the capital Sofia and only 85 km from Plovdiv is in close vicinity of other ski resorts; Smolyan and Chepelare. The most extensive Bulgarian mountain, the Rhodopes, as named by locals, is a home to the resort's newest project "VeloPark Pamparovo" - laying at altitude of 1620 meters above sea level featuring numerous trails for advanced as well as beginners, allowing for relaxing as well as full of adrenaline fast descents through the beauty and purity of unique nature the region has to offer.

Currently, the park has trails with a total length of over 25 kilometers, marked in green, blue, red and black, depending on their level of difficulty. The park consists of a functioning specialized trail for training and skill improvement with a length of 2800 meters, suitable for anyone who wants to gain more experience and move smoothly to the more complex and demanding trails. 

More advanced riders can use the trails with medium difficulty and train before moving on to more demanding ones. A specialized downhill trail built by the team of Concept Creative according to all accepted international standards ready to host high class competitions such as European Championships as well as other major UCI international events is another highlight of the park rounded off with a brand new 4X Track that has hosted the last round of 4X ProTour 2014 for example.

Currently, the work on the development of the park and the construction of new elements, such as trails, turns, kickers and various wooden structures has gone underway. The team around Velo Park Pamporovo have chose an attainable goal to turn the park into one of the most visited places in the summer within two years by building different types of tracks with various new elements to stimulate the interest of both the local and the global bike scene.

The park is serviced by three lift facilities – Studenetz No1, Studenetz No2 and Smolyan Lakes No4 Monday to Sunday from 08:45 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. Daily lift pass starts at 22 BGN (11 Euro) a day, the area offers bike rental as well as specially designed bike wash.
